Four Bears Den, Woolley Grange Hotel

Woolley Grange is part of the Luxury Family Hotels collection, which means it includes Ofsted-registered childcare in family breaks. For pre-schoolers that comes in the form of Four Bears Den and two-hours of fully supervised care for each night of your stay. Daily Family Stay and Play sessions also let your kids enjoy all the Four Bears Den facilities along with parents, if you prefer.

You can pack light for this one because the hotel provides everything from Bugaboo cots and buggies to cosy blankets, children’s cups and cutlery at mealtimes, bottle warmers and other essentials. You only have to ask.

The heated pool at Woolley Grange mixes adult-only swim time with family sessions, and the grounds are just as gorgeous as you’d expect them to be around a beautifully restored English country mansion house. They also have runner ducks roaming in the Walled Garden, another big hit with younger visitors.

Apart from giving you plenty of space, all the accommodation here is individually designed with an eye on comfort, warmth, light and pretty views.

Elemis toiletries are a nice touch for parents and a Yoto player with story cards is available for the asking.

Eating at Woolley Grange

Even Afternoon Tea at Woolley Grange comes with a children’s menu, the family dining space is relaxed and child-friendly right down to board games at the table and cute highchairs – as well as a full kids’ menu. There are early meal times for pre-schoolers and a child-listening service means parents can eat later, like grown ups, for a change. Adding to the value of family breaks here, under-twos eat free and all children stay free when sharing a room with parents.

Why Woolley Grange works for parents?

Spa Treatment Rooms and Terrace

The Woolley Grange Spa might be small but it comes with a pool, sauna, steam room and heated outdoor pool for summer swims. In partnership with Elemis it also offers treatments ranging from rejuvenating facials to hot stone massage. As we said, there are family and adult-only swim sessions at the pool, so you can share spa time with your kids too.

Like we said you’re a short drive from Bath, and that makes Woolley Grange a particularly good choice with pre-schoolers because you can see one of the most visited cities in the UK,when it’s not absolutely mobbed with visitors. It’s also a fabulous city roundabout Christmas with one of the country’s prettiest festive markets right inthe historic centre.

Longleat Safari Park, the UK’sfirst and still one of the best loved, is a 30 minute drive from the hotel andfeatures a walking safari as well as a cute Family Farmyard which is great foryounger kids who aren’t ready to be impressed by big beasts roaming wild andfree.

There are more up-close encounters at nearby Fairfield Animal Centre which also has the added bonus of cute play areas and plenty of space (a full 15 acres).

Adorable local villages like Castle Combe are perfect for wandering around with toddlers, well stocked with tearooms and particularly lovely for a spring or summer midweek visit: again taking advantage of your pre-schooler flexibility to avoid the crowds.

Good to know

On a final note, Woolley Grange is dog friendly and included in The Times 50 Best Places to Stay in the UK for 2026.

If you’re trying to conceive (TTC), you probably know that there are certain foods and nutrients that become especially important once you’re pregnant. But nutrition plays a vital role even when trying to conceive, much like laying a strong foundation before constructing a house.

Certain nutrients create that foundation by supporting egg and sperm health (yes, nutrition matters for both partners), hormone balance and creating a hospitable environment for a fertilized egg to implant. In fact, studies show that certain nutrients can help increase fertility and improve success rates for both natural conception and fertility treatments.

In other words, nutrition is a key player in the TTC journey, but getting the right nutrients in the right quantities can be tricky. That’s where supplements come in. Just as you’d take a multivitamin to fill in nutritional gaps for optimal health, fertility supplements can give you that extra nutrient boost.
