Quiet luxury for feeding on the go: AuraLai's new nursing cover collections

Made by a mother and daughter, AuraLai's covers give you a private little cocoon for feeds, then carry on life as a scarf or top once breastfeeding is done. This autumn brings three new collections.

Feeding out and about can feel like a lot of admin. Where to sit, what to wear, whether the muslin will stay put when your baby decides to have a good look around. Plenty of mums feed openly and love it, and plenty would simply like a bit of privacy on their own terms. A good cover should make that easier, not feel like hiding.

That's the idea behind AuraLai, founded by mother and daughter Mahera and Meena Shaikh after their own experiences of early motherhood. Their hero piece is a multi-functional nursing cover that looks far more like something you'd choose to wear than something you have to.

How the cover works

It creates a private cocoon, without cutting you off from your baby. A structured collar holds the fabric away from you, so you can keep eye contact during a feed. The covers are lightweight and breathable, soft against delicate skin, and finished by hand at the edges.

When your breastfeeding days are over, the collar comes out and the cover carries on as a top or a scarf. That second life is a big part of the appeal: it's not another baby thing destined for the loft.

Three new collections

The Essence Collection is the everyday one. Made from 100% Tencel, it's light and easy to live in, with new designs in Heritage Noir, Sienna and Bleu Heritage. RRP £55.

The Silk Collection is pure mulberry silk, in Silk Leopard and Savile. It's the one to reach for if you want a feed in a café to feel a little bit special. RRP £95.

The Premium Collection is the heirloom piece. A blend of 82% wool, 13% silk and 5% cashmere in a leopard print, made to be worn for years after the feeding stage. RRP £150.

Not another baby thing destined for the loft: once feeding is done, it's a scarf you'll actually want to wear.

A thoughtful gift

Every cover arrives in a premium AuraLai box, which makes it an easy baby shower or push present, and a nice change from yet another sleepsuit. It's a gift for the mum rather than the baby, which new mums tend to remember.

AuraLai also talks about making considered choices on materials, manufacturing partners, labour standards and product longevity, which fits the whole buy-once, wear-for-years idea.

Where to buy

The new collections are available from auralaiofficial.com: Essence from £55, Silk from £95 and Premium from £150.

If you’re trying to conceive (TTC), you probably know that there are certain foods and nutrients that become especially important once you’re pregnant. But nutrition plays a vital role even when trying to conceive, much like laying a strong foundation before constructing a house.

Certain nutrients create that foundation by supporting egg and sperm health (yes, nutrition matters for both partners), hormone balance and creating a hospitable environment for a fertilized egg to implant. In fact, studies show that certain nutrients can help increase fertility and improve success rates for both natural conception and fertility treatments.

‍

In other words, nutrition is a key player in the TTC journey, but getting the right nutrients in the right quantities can be tricky. That’s where supplements come in. Just as you’d take a multivitamin to fill in nutritional gaps for optimal health, fertility supplements can give you that extra nutrient boost.
